Being an admirer of art glass with applied flowers, these two examples take my breath away. Both vases are from Harrach and they are possibly a Wilhelm Pohl design from around 1885. Both vases are blown of spreading colours of dark cranberry and green vaseline glass with a Thumbprint or aka Coin Spot decor pattern. Each vase has applied roses. The larger bulbous vase only has one large rose bloom. There should be three more roses at the top, but that is what happens when you buy glass from an inexperienced seller who decided it was best to send this vase across the pond in a thin cardboard beer box. Yup, you read it correctly, a beer box. lol The cylinder shaped vase has dainty rose buds in pink and yellow. This example is also missing a few rose buds. The colour of applied leaves on both vases are a minty green. Everything lights up like a Christmas tree under a UV light except for the applied thorny branches that serve as the footed base and the applied rim on both pieces which is a dark rustic amber colour. Both have a beautiful polished pontil on the base.

I've been told there is several designs in the Harrach line drawings with the larger applied rose. I have seen Harrach examples with this same flower through the years, but the vases are a totally different decor. Believe or not, these vases are damaged and the photos are taken with showing the best view to hide their flaws. I can totally look pass the unsightly and embrace the beauty they still have to offer. Hope you can too! :)

Thanks, so much for stopping by.
