Please ask questions and help me identify this doll. On the shoe bottom is stamped PINOCCHIO Trademark Walt Disney Productions 1939.
The doll matches the descriptions of a Charlotte Clark prototype, but there are reported to be only 3 existing, and I have not seen a picture of one with red pants.
I found this yesterday at an estate sale in NJ, and paid $50 for it.

What a fantastic piece . It is without a doubt a very early Charlotte Webb Pinocchio. Mickey ended up in red shorts so he may have been made after the shorts in tan version. Does it say Pat. Applied for ? Love him and how tall is he ? I do think the prototype's were done by sewn by hand from what I recall .

The doll is 18" high and does not have a Patent notice.
Today I went back to the house where I bought it, looking for information. An elderly lady said she was given the doll by her aunt in 1939, when she was 4. Her aunts name was Blanche Cohen, and she was a seamstress. Maybe she was one of the 6 members of Charlotte Clark's team.
It is wonderful to have the history of Mickey . I would ask the person you bought him from to give you a written letter stating that so you could keep his provenance with him. Interesting that yours is taller . It sure seems likely that her Aunt perhaps did being it home from the so called "Doll House" if she might have been a worker there . He is surely special and very valuable both in history and monetary value . I hope someone will be able to confirm if he is a prototype or one of the first to be sold to public or given maybe as a gift to someone at Disney . I love him.
The doll gas all the signature CC technique and fabrics, including wire inside the fabric hair. It is in extraordinary condition.
I agree WillRock all the CC things we look for he has . Just a bit of a mystery as to size and red shorts . I will keep trying to track him as well , He is a Rare piece !
Normally when a artist does a prototype they do variations so I would not be surprised the color of shorts changed during the time they were choosing one to see retail .
Red shorts was what was used in the movie, so this must be a later model.
Hi! This is definitely one of Charlotte Clark’s Pinocchio dolls, but only the prototypes had two separate stamps, one on each foot. Does yours have one or two stamps? If it only has the one stamp, it is probably one of hers made after production on the film ended. I know of at least two of this later type and there are two confirmed prototypes.
