found this trunk in the mountains in a old mine has pat oct 2 1883 on it, its in pretty good shape it has two wheels on one side and I belive the deceptive metal is zinc

The embossed metal pattern is tin.Here are two patent image possibilities.One is 1885 the other is 1887. There were hundreds of manufacturers.Without a label it's hard to say who made it.
