Had this for about 20 years I guess? I believe its a Ginseng pot?

Approximately 11" tall, 12 1/2" to top of lid. About 8" wide

The mark appears to be under the glaze? it's very difficult to read. I've had people look at it but they can't decipher the mark. I'm not sure if this is an authentic antique piece? I believe it's Chinese? Any info or insight is appreciated.

Look at those fish! Comic :)

it beats the hell out of me , i am completely outplayed, first of all we got to rotate this the trident left under ought to be on top on right on this an fourlined in stead of three lined

and in the picture right above lets say the cobble stones with the chess piece king ,
ought to be left under but if we rotate got no top roof bar

in the mid section on top of the on the picture there is a cross , the only known combination is jiaging , ( i have no skills about hongkong or macao)

but the glazing does not make sense , good glazing by the way ( far better than the guanghu glazing) and a good design ,

(they isolated an aquatic, got the detritus out )

well done congrats but i just don,t known

another the whole got no ferro sedimentation , that<s is also strange, a jiaging piece would probably had that , this is rather bleached , this must be far later i think

Thanks, still a mystery. I've seen 1 other similar piece over the years and it was white. Was thinking the mark was fake, but it shows age and use. Hope to solve this mystery. Regardless it's a handsome piece. And over enjoyed since the day I bought it.

Ok, I've rotated the mark. And I've added a picture of the inside. This is the one that has bugged me..looks like a seam inside. I don't know anything Chinese (or any pottery for that matter), but this looks fishy to me?
    6. dav2no1 dav2no1, 4 years ago
Maybe it's not a seam, and just runoff of some type of coating or paint inside? That might make sense if purpose was to store ginseng?

well the point is i can,t make sense out of it, the mark is hard to see and is faded , and when you rotate it , the trident is floating in the air and got no bar on it

this is a koi design , and ought to be a guangxu design , but the koi ought to be more ferro red and the black glazing is too perfect

there is no ferro red sedimentation ( corrosion) and in the white porcelain there is no white blue afterglare ,
the way the mark has be made is suspect, its stamped , and it is stamped rather thinly, to make it old it needs a more ferro stamped mark, where the double lined frame of the mark has to be closed , a sort of thick framed mark

so it must be quite new i think , still nice , actually its better IMO then a lot of Guanghu period stuff

I've had it for about 20 years. I think I paid $100 for it back then. I've suspected all these years that it could be counterfeit? Regardless it's amazingly stunning piece and I will continue to enjoy it.

an export told me that the glazing is a probably a macao glazing , i did,not knew to be honest
