    This is "Rupaul"...
    Chechoslovakia - Czechoslovakian glassware
    Brandy/liqueur/shot/cordial/bar set
    Genre? Date? Research in process!

    REPLY
The metal says "Czecho-Slovakia" and the glass says "Ges Gesch", which I believe is a German trademark. I haven't yet determined what era it indicates...

How did you happen to identify the maker? Can you show the mark on it in a photo? Interesting piece....I'm a bird lover who happens to have raised orphan owls and enjoy such things.

This is probably Czech made from the interwar period of 1920-40. The impressed name on the base might be the retailer or exporter.

As far as producer, that is more difficult to identify, the glass color and the draped decor of the body, might be Kralik & Sons. Very nice piece, than you for posting.

Translator says, Ges Gesch means protected by law or Registered.

T or D... many thanks for your knowledge and time. I would never have learned that on my own.
      fhrjr2, thanks. That fits!

Wow... this is a really helpful site. I'm glad I found it!

Youre welcome, and glad you found us, we enjoy doing this for other collectors. I did finally another one in green glass that was part of a lot of other things, at an old auction, they had no information except to say it was interesting.:

OH MY GODDD! My very good friend and fellow owl collector has the green one!!!!!!
I just emailed her with that link. I am struggling to enlarge/clarify/decipher the sticker on the front, meanwhile.
      Thank youuuuuuuuuuuuu!

Now there are two of us invested in finding out more about our "RuPauls", or as we call them, "RuPink" and RuGreen". Some pieces are so special that they must be named, and no other names were quite flamboyant enough.

      About that label on RuGreen...

I have tried a few free online apps aimed at reading fuzzy or over-pixilated lettering in photos, to no avail... any ideas? Anybody out there have any spare FBI/CIA/Secret Agent software???

I wonder what you are trying to read that you find blurry or pixelated?? The wording seems clear here and the main body of the post says what the wording is.

That smudged label on the bid body of the green one in my auction, can be very frustrating, it depends on the original size of the photo, you can try enlarging it, or play with the brightness and contrast edit buttons, sometimes that works, if your image software does not have that or you have not used them before, someone with a good picture software with loads of applications might be able to help here.

Lots of our members are excellent at this sort of stuff. Like the creative naming too.

      Thank you, friends, thank you!
I'm such a newb. I shall hie myself back to the link and see what I am missing, and/or what more I may be able to learn.
I am grateful for your patience and encouragement. Please don't get tired of me. :)

Well, poo. I still can't enhance the label resolution to the point of any readability, so I guess I'll leave my darling as... still a mystery...
      Thanks, everybody!

I have owns 3 of these pieces and I believe this is Wilhelm Kraliks' drape pattern circa 1920s
It should have wire cage inside to hold a small bottle. Crushed ice is put in owl to keep the liquer cold. My research indicates Pernod or a like liquid (hallucinogenic)
was in the bottle. I don't believe the glasses are original to the piece. They appear to large and the wrong color. See Kralik-glass.com then visual decor then drape pattern. Hope this helps

Happy to revisit this post, as I recently came across some old documentation I had that shows this exact decanter glass owl, in a Chicago wholesale catalog.

Still agree that Kralik is a good contender as the latest comment states.
