    Armadillo Coin Bank

    Head to tail 9" x 3" high x 2 1/2" wide
    Material: Brass
    Circa - 1960s-70s

Another coin Bank I've had for a long time. It's very heavy with lots of detail. It's a nice piece and looks great on the shelf with other collectibles.

Requires screwdriver to open. No visible maker's marks.

In AR, we generally refer to (real) armadillos as "speed bumps" but whatever -- this *does* look like a lovely example of a brass coin bank! :-) :-) :-)

The last pic is the way I remember them on the side of the roads.

That's funny I just sat down and was watching a movie supposedly filmed in Texas. In the first minute there was one on the side of the road on its side.

been in Texas several times, and I never saw one.
Are they as numerous as groundhogs are here on the east coast?

I dunno. I live in Washington state so I've never seen one. Lots of squirrels here.

Great find! And very sturdily made - "safe as houses" with those screws :) I'd have bought it in a heartbeat. Terrific little armadillo :)
