    Hi Again,

I found this beautiful wine decanter at a Goodwill. It is very ornate and stamped with a number and three symbols. The number is D2314 plus a lion, anchor and one I can't make out. Hopefully, someone can give me some history on this beauty.

      Art noveau for sure. Beautiful!

Thank you. I believe it is a Gorham decanter. I believe it has a sterling silver overlay. Would you clean it or leave the patina on it?

I think it is beautiful as it is but I would clean it if I was sure it is silver. I guess they intended the silver to be a beautiful contrast to the wine inside. Therefore I would want that effect back. But if you want it to hold something pale or bright like Limoncello (you are free to use it as you like, sometimes we forgett that ha ha) I would leave the silver dark like this. But that is me. Lovely item!

Thanks. I want to see it in it’s original beauty.
