This is a necklace made from vintage parts. It's 42" long made with a 1960's copper shield brooch as clasp so it can be worn doubled. I made this earlier this year. The wonderful black fluted beads are 60's-70's lucite. Bakelite Mahjong tile, red and green drum beads. Used vintage copper beads and bead caps and a fun 2-sided red enamel charm with Vegas theme dice "Lady Luck".

Didn't buy very much in 2020 so I wanted to share some goodies.

Super creative beauty Mary, you're so talented - love the autumn colors & pretty Mahjong tile

Thanks Kevin and Thomas for fast loves.

Thank you Jenni for your nice compliment. It was a fun project and yes, I loved the Mahjong tile especially.

Thank you six - not an upcycle in this case, maybe recycle is better? I thought about that term too when I was doing the title because this was made from a bunch of loose beads and bits in my shoebox of plastic stuff.

Thanks also to Gudrun for your love.

I adore your homemade pieces. Looks like a lot of thought went into this and it shows!
Haven’t been shopping either Mary, too many other important issues going on! Yes, it’s fun to collect but there are limits to what’s important at certain times. This is one of them. I did come across an amazing piece I will post later, but other than that, jewelry can wait....( these are my thoughts, not imputing on anyone else!)

Phil - thank you, sorry I missed your comment quite awhile ago!

Eileen - same to you, where did the month go and why didn't I thank you for your nice comments about this necklace. I am happy how it came out :-)

Elisabeth - thank you! It takes me a long time to get the composition right. So usually I've redone something a few times and irritated enough that I put it away before I cut it up and start over again LOL.

Thank you friends for your loves.

Eileen, thank you so much for commenting. I love old beads. The black lucite beads were a true find! Thank you for getting my redos.

Mary, the things we wish we would of hung on to! ( my cars for instance! I have a Subaru Outback, very safe car bought especially for my grandkids safety, but every time I see a VW Bug ( old ones) on the road, I want to cry. I had a 67 with the rattan shelf and a 1972 Superbeetle! Oops getting off track) I was thinking about beads. My Mother, at one point, had jars and jars of glass beads every color and shape you could think of. I remember cobalt melon balls! My cousin wanted to make jewelry so I gave them all to her! She was supposed to make me an eyeglass string, never got it!! A few years went by and I asked her if I could see them as I needed a couple beads for a macrame project. “ She couldn’t find them “ SIGH....

Eileen - thank you for your comment!! Jars and jars O' beads - what a treasure to think about. I bet your 72 Superbeetle was pretty amazing! My first was a 1962 Ford F100 pickup truck - aqua and white.

It was! Red with a black vinyl top! But it was my 67 that I loved...
And the prices! $1,200 for the 67
$1,800 for the 72, and these were off car lots!!
Ford Pickup how cool is that?
During my Hippie years, I wanted a Ford Econoline (sp?) Panel!
Do the kids now a days even know how to drive a stick? Most of us learned on them...

Eileen - I think the kids who love classic cars know how to drive them. LOL. Cars were expensive back then too! I wasn't a VW bug fan because my 7th grade teacher was smashed like a bug in her VW 1970. Kinda remember those things when you are a kid. Corvairs also had engines in the back, but so cool looking.

Last year my motor head brother in Richmond, VA gave me his black 67 Mustang while I was visiting for a week and I had to say "no thanks". I could not drive it. Before anyone blasts and laughs - hey power steering and brakes matter and a car chugging to die at the light....not cool when you are on vacation, SO I drove his early 90's Bronco. LOL Was not as sexy.

I just read this! 67 Mustang!
That's all my Brother drove! Mustangs! And don’t ask me what he kept in the trunk! Ha! He used to street race back in High School ( you could get away with it back then). They called him Captain Crunch but never had an accident... too good of a driver!

Eileen, I have 4 brothers - 3 are wonderful motorhead classic car guys. I could have a 1960's Ford Falcon in black with red and white interior but I am too far away from them to fix and I don't have a garage here. My oldest brother is a junker like me. He loves vintage metal toys, old tools. SADLY, I keep trying to educate them - no one looks at jewelry, glass, china or quilts when they are out hunting. And some of them are married. Geez, go figure.

I love my 4 brothers. Also have 3 really great sisters.

I love this again. I think it is one of the nicest necklaces ever. Love it.

Thank you Elisabeth! It was surprising that I had all the components for this - last being the copper shield pin which serves as the clasp. I have worn it a few times, that's good for me!
