    Ms.Crystal…
    (112 items)

After that sad sunrise I posted last week, I thought it would be nice to post something positive here in CALIFORNIA!
My Daughter and her husband, (both avid hikers, backpackers, campers) went to Yosemite this Saturday!
They started at Tenaya Lake trailhead, and climbed 3,310 of elevation to 9,931 feet to reach “CLOUDS REST”. Isn’t the view incredible? Talk about being on top of the world. This was a rather short hike for them...about 14 miles. These two have hiked all over California, and plan to hike the John Muir Trail. Grandma stayed home with their three boys, they are already asking about this coming Saturday, to climb the Pinacles! Next Spring I’m watching them for nearly a week, as these two want to hike & camp at Catalina Island. The boys go with them on short hikes (3-4 miles) close to home, but these long, steep treks they prefer to do alone, for safety reasons!
They know I always say yes, as I adore my grandsons....
UPDATE PICTURES ADDES: My Daughter, Michele with 4 year old Son, Julian on top of Cerro Alto ( san luis obispo, Ca.)
Julian with backpack heading up Cerro Alto. This child is a trooper, and loves hiking with Mom & Dad!

      Ooh Eileen! That's fantastic views!
And you must be yourself "above the peak" to have your grandchildren :-)
My "kind of" hubby (not married!) hiked last year from Black Sea to Western point of Europa on Atlantic shore... 6 months and a half to cross Europa by feet. His dream is accomplished, and I'm very proud of him :-)

Pascale, that’s an incredible trek! How many miles or should I say meters was his hike?
These two live to hike, besides working 50-60 hour weeks. See that grey mountain to the left? That’s Half-Dome. ( added photo 4 to show the face) The face is a sheer, smooth slab of granite and people hike up this brute! Of course they have cables to hang on to, but only advanced climbers should attempt it. My Daughter says no way! ( thank goodness!) but Steven plans on doing it! Michele has a more safer aspiration of hiking the PACIFIC COAST TRAIL....1700 miles!
    3. kyratango kyratango, 2 months ago
He walked 6000 kms or 3728 miles!
Only a small part in Romania was done on a bicycle, because he was afraid to cross bears in a particular area... The roads and the Romanian driving was more dangerous....!
Your daughter is more reasonable not to climd a monster!!!

That’s amazing!. I did a little math in my head...averages 20 miles a day! In my neck of the woods, it would be like starting at the Mexican border walking through California, Oregon , & Washington to the Canadian border with 1100 miles more to go. I just can’t fathom it!
You have one incredible man there! :)

I meant to add....these two are building up their stamina for Mount Whitney, elevation 14,505 ft.! Highest mountain in the lower 48, and they will do it!

Isn't that the term "work to live"!? So amazing Eileen. Incredible accomplishments. 3-4 mile hikes are great too! Very nice photos of places I can't get to. XOXO

Beautiful photos. I am envious of their access to the mountains. I miss views like this, too, since I moved from the west coast to the Midwest where elevation gains are in the hundreds of feet, at best. It is in my long range planning to move back to a place where I have access to mountain hiking and backpacking. I still hike with a 30 lb pack couple of times a week to try to maintain some level of fitness for getting back to mountain hiking someday. Thanks for keeping me motivated, Eileen!

So sorry for the late response! Watched my Grandsons again so these two could head for the hills again. ( will post incredible pictures) Most sincere thanks to all who love and appreciate the outdoors!....

It was great talking with you Pascale. That was one tremendous feat your man accomplished!
I can picture him riding fast through “bear country”, looking over his shoulder. What a hero!

Bill, these two work, and work hard. They are raising 3 boys! This was a day trip! As being a California native, you know we have mountains everywhere! They are planning the John Muir Trail “down the road”! Stay safe and I’m so glad that horrible fire is finally contained.

Yes Mary, short hikes are great. Just minutes away from where I live are lots of mountain trails. These two are building up for Mount Whitney. So they keep looking for higher elevations.

Kevin, I told my Daughter about your 30 lb. backpacking. That’s hard work! When these two do day hikes, all they are carrying are their water packs. Like I said they are building up their elevation stamina for “ the big one”...Mount Whitney!

Thanks for showing Eileen, the last time that I saw that view we were Flying back from my Sons Graduation in Texas, in February. I zoomed in and got some great shots, not even close to these though, but first time Flying over Yosemite was exciting for me! :^D
Then COVID-19, and everything stopped, please Wear a Mask and lets all End this Pandemic! :*)

Thanks for joining in on my little tribute to our beautiful National Parks and Forests, Bill!

And you too, Leanne, I can only imagine the gorgeous green forests of Canada. My Daughter went there last year, she saw only a small part, but told me what she saw was incredible!

Thanks Scott, as you can see, even the youngest in the family loves to hike! Beats sitting in the house all day watching TV! I don’t know about you, but I just can’t do it, I have to get outside! Like Mary says, “Blow the stink off” Ha!
