This weekend my Daughter & hubby went to Sequoia National Park, climbed Alta trail, 5,623 feet of elevation gain, to Alta Peak, 11,276 feet! Photos included Steve at Heather Lake, top of the summit with summit marker...that’s the Great Western Divide you see! Foxtail Pines, second oldest trees on Earth, the trail up to the summit is littered with them. The last photo is Michele having her breakfast with a view yesterday morning..local hike. Friday I’m going to Sequoia...my turn! LOL
That will be refreshing to be out in the wild, far above it all!
Arent they always calling that is nice pictures
Beautiful!! I've been going to different parts of California every weekend for the past month and it's been glorious!

You said it all Patricia! These two keep climbing, and the views are well worth the trek...
Yes Bill, they do. I miss my ranch out in the country so much. Living in town was such a culture shock. It still bothers me when a neighbor leaves their front porch lights on, I need it black!!
ho2cultcha, how wonderful! Where have you visited? Would love to hear more and see if you have pictures!
AND...I did make it to Sequoia! Post to follow!
Thanks for loving the California outdoors AnythingObscure!
Oh wow, such breath taking scenery!!
Thank you for the love of the mountains...

Yes Scott, you said it. Pays to get outside and enjoy our beautiful world! No worries about social distancing here!!
Love the mountains
Happy New Year to you and Yours
Clockerman, I love them too! There’s nothing better than to get outside and enjoy our beautiful world! My Daughter is backpacking this weekend—-3 days/ 2 nights, with a friend and her dog! Wish I was going but promised to help watch the boys. Perfect time to “get away”..
She has earned it, hosting a wild Christmas party, boy, did we have fun! Ha!

I recently moved to the Jersey Shore from my upstate NY mountains .(Hudson Valley). 10 minutes from West Point. I miss those Mountain View’s and going for long hikes.
I love the beach also so it’s great either way.
Good for you, that you get to have the boys. Enjoy!
Eileen - please do not think I aimed my comment at you. It just so happened that you responded before me. I apologize if I sounded as though it was your input that I was addressing.
I was included (via email) with the banter earlier between several CW posters that I felt was unwarranted. By the time I got to answer the comments, it had stewed and I let it out. Hopefully the issue is over and we can all once again share. Sorry Eileen if I hurt you, unintentional. I respect your opinions and love your commentary, in fact I look forward them.
Everyone else - please take my comment in the positive way it was intended and let keep posting. Thank you, Lori
Not sure what you guys are referring to..but I owned and moderated an international yahoo chat group for over a decade...its easy to read things into posts that aren't there. People do it all the time.
I've had people get snippy here..you just have to let it roll. Sometimes people have crappy moments and say stuff they don't intend and/ or it's taken out of context. And with no way to edit your comments, not good.
Dav you are right about people reading things into a comment that isn't there . the issue was not even worth the hassle. I just don't want Eileen to feel I was directing my words at her. I think we were reacting to the same at yhe same time. Unfortunately this is what happened. Thank you for your thoughts and advice. Lori
