My wonderful Daughter took her Mother to Sequoia last week....an incredible and humbling experience to walk through “The Giant Forest”.
Took “The Congress Trail”, and walked for hours (8 miles).
Photo One—we are bowing to the biggest tree ( in volume) on the planet. General Sherman is 265 feet tall, and has lived on this planet for 2,200 years!
Photo Two-That small woman in the photo is me, this is a group of Sequoia’s they call The Senate.
Photo three—Hale Tharps’s “Tree House” built in 1858 from a fallen Sequoia, with fireplace, table, and bed. Hale was the first white man to come to Sequoia and live among the Natives. You can go inside but best to stay off table and bed for prosperity’s sake.
Photo Four— a tree hugger, ( I couldn’t help myself).
No way can you see all there is to see in a day, we went off the paved trail, and walked to the Cresent Meadow, so beautiful with all the Fall foliage! Wildlife? Two chipmunks , a raven, a tiny green snake, and a mama bear with her cub! So brown and fluffy with their winter coats coming on. And Yes! We kept our distance. All in all, a perfect day in one of California’s National Parks! We plan to camp next Spring, and take the Crystal Cave tour! Can’t wait!
