Hi all! First and foremost, I had this piece appraised here. But they couldn't decipher the maker's mark and because of that had trouble dating the piece and establishing origin. Could someone help me with this? I'd really appreciate it...I've spent hours over the past 2 days pouring over MM's on the internet and can't even find anything similar. Thanks in advance for any help you can bring to the table!

What I know: the triangle stones are citrine, the black are onyx, the red are carnelian and the ones that make up the necklace are crystal quartz and all are in beautiful condition. They are set in sterling with the assay mark 935. This was verified by my jewelers, of which one was a certified gemologist

What I was told: possibly 1925 to 1930 art deco piece. German origin. I can take one picture down and put up a picture of the back if you need.

Hi everyone! First and foremost I have missed all of you. Terribly! But hey… considering I’ve been in and out of the hospitals the past month, I’d miss Mr. Mephistopheles, himself, after 15 hours of hanging around in and doctor’s offices and different hospital emergency department’s waiting rooms.

Side-note: Would someone please enlighten me as to when the ER became the ED? I asked a well-meaning charge nurse about this and was told that emergency department made more sense because it was more than a room; it was an entire department. I stared at him a moment, then pointed out that the problem wasn’t in the re-christening of the emergency room as the emergency department. It was in the calling the ER the ED. Puzzled, he asked me why that was. I explained that thanks to the never-ending stream of intimate issues covered by advertisements for the latest, newfangled prescription drugs, the only thing that I- and everyone else I polled while sitting in the waiting room for 15 hours - associated with the acronym ED happened to be “erectile dysfunction.” So that whomever sold the whole idea of using the shortened form of ED instead of ER was unintentionally causing a subconscious link between the emergency room and...well, you get where I’m going with this.

Back to the hospital waiting room. We all know I take comedic license to exaggerate. I wish I could exercise that license when I tell you I spent 15 hours in the waiting room of Duke Hospital Emergency Department. But I would be lying. I spent 15 hours there because there were absolutely no available beds. None. Nada. Niente.

That’s right. There was no room at the Inn for Carmen. I was totally empathizing with our Savior, at that moment. Of course, there were a few minor differences,. The first being Roman legionnaires were out to kill our Lord, while I was being attacked buy a full-blown bacterial infection they could’ve knocked out an entire legion or two had the Lord decided we could’ve worked in tandem at some point.

Secondly, He was offered silver gold and myrrh. Not to mention a rhythm section. I couldn’t even get a cup of soup.

Lastly, he is our Lord and Savior and I am… Well… Not. Still. A little gold and silver would’ve been nice. Or a bed. Or soup.

Once diagnosed, I was presented with bag after bag of IV antibiotic. Not quite myrrh, but probably more effective.

Side-note no. 2: I really don’t know what myrrh is except that it’s some type of rare resin-based material. I also believe. it’s worth somewhere along the line,, per ounce, of whale vomit. Seriously. For the record, I don’t need the elucidation., I just felt the need to be completely honest about the myrrh situation and my speculation as to it’s worth compared to whale vomit. MOVING ON...

Well, I really have nothing to move on to, at this point. I've somehow gone from a kidney infection to whale vomit. Where could I POSSIBLY go from here? Except OFF the internet entirely? Why in the world am I feeling that there's a lot of high-fiving going on with that decision?

LOL you’re right! For the love of all that’s holy… Do not get sick!

I purchased this on eBay. The seller is long gone. I did take it to my jeweler because one of the sales assistants was, at one point, a registered gemologist. She verified the stones as citrine, onyx, Carnelian and Crystal quartz. She was very impressed with how the clasp slid in behind the stone in the back. She also verified that it was set in Sterling and felt it was German in nature.

Unfortunately, Barnaby‘s was not able to validate the stones since they had no provenance and nothing in hand. They also cannot make out the makers Mark. i’ve been driving myself insane trying to find anything that resembles that Mark! To no avail. I feel like they could have helped more have they had the necklace in hand but I didn’t think to ask if that was an option since this was my first experience with purchasing an appraisal.

I’m not sure what the protocol is and if I’m allowed to come back and ask for help if Barnaby’s was unable to provide a thorough and accurate report. Please tell me if I’m violating any type of rule war agreement. Thanks so much for any help you can give me

I didn't think of the Revival, Mary! But would sterling have been stamped 935 then? That threw Barnaby's as well, I think. They "noted" it but didn't say anything about it except they thought it might have been 40's or 50's. And without verifying the stones or sterling, gave a value of appx. 600.00 less than I paid and what it was insured for (and 500.00 less than unofficially valued at by the gemologist) I'm really in a bind as far as selling it, which is what I intend to do and why I never listed it before. I went straight to purchase the appraisal. Now, I don't know WHAT to do!!

Mary, funny you should say that! I decided to not sell it about a week ago. The main reason being for what you just said...I had some beautiful Weiss and lower end pieces I listed and they didn't sell-and I listed them at a decent price. A dealer price! And they didn't even get any views. I pulled most everything except for some sterling I just want to unload. Besides, I've had a love affair with this necklace for a long time. It took a long time to even list her HERE...much less even to sell! I want to know more about her, anyway. A story would endear her to me and would make her a keeper. But it's hard to bond 100% when you don't know the story behind a piece, you know? I would've sold that butterfly brooch and earrings but when Eileen told me it was a Shreiner and the story behind it, well, suffice it to say it'll be with me forever!!! So, here's hoping her story will come out before the market picks up again!!
