Got my old truck all cleaned up,and tried a new technique of coating the body panels in FLOOD by Penatrol which is a paint additive and metal protectant. It self levels and dries to a nice gloss without harming the paint below!I tested this on an old tailgate before attempting this!Clear coat would flake off over time as it wouldn't adhere to the rust well but this stuff doesn't care as it's made to stick to any metal! And can be refreshed any time.

Is that a long bed step side? I just warmed up my 64' C-10 a few days ago. Even in the garage it's not good when they sit too long

Dav2no1,yes it's a C-20 big back window long stepper with 1 ton suspension! It's went from 18 years in a field to stored in a barn to a nice garage this year!lol she's moving up in the world every time I fix a little more!

I heartily APPLAUD your efforts to preserve the original 'patina' of this truck and its paint, vs. the all-too-common tendency for folks to want to grind all such off and start over to "restore" it. WELL DONE friend gargoylecollector, for allowing your truck to continue to show (proudly) its actual age!! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

      Thanks manikin!;)
      And Hoot60 thank you!
Thanks fort, those are some old sideboard stashed away for years!
And AnythingObscure,I have too much personal history with this ol girl to restore her to perfection,it wouldn't be the same truck I learned to drive in when I was 12.I also have a "fair weather flyer" a nicely restored car,and it's no fun bc you have to be so careful with it.

Love your truck. I had an old 52 GMC five window for a while. Had a 6 volt battery and no turn signals. Had to replace the kingpins which was a chore. Straight eight under the hood and enough room in there to take a nap. After seeing yours, I miss it now.

Have to correct my comment. The 52 GMC had a flathead six, not a straight 8. Ahead of it's time with a push button starter, on the floor.

Just bought a house before I got the truck. All my spare time was spent on rehab of the house. Had to let the truck go. Have to dig through some boxes for photos, if I have any I'll surely post them. My brother's fifty Pontiac Chieftan had the straight eight. Before that the had a 49 Hudson Rocket he got for $40.
