Welcome to CW. No idea what this is, but there are several folks on CW who know a lot about hand tools..

One picture isn't much help. Is the barrel hollow when you compress it? If so then it may be a brad driver. When the barrel is compressed does a point come out? If so then it could be an electrical tester. What is the writing on it? You need more details and pictures.

Agreeing w/fhrjr2, we need a little more info/pics to guess what this is. That "Telematic" name on its handle sorta suggests that it might be an electrical tool for something, but it is hard to guess without an idea of how it "moves"...

In general Telematics refers to an electrical/computerized system in an automobile.

Thank you all for the posts.

The barrel is hollow. When I compress it a rod comes up and stops flush with end of the barrel. That said, the end that comes up flush has the marking of rod in a rod. So it likely did have a point on the end that is now gone.

If the end inside the barrel is blunt I say a brad driver or possibly anchor set for a PC board. Both work the same way.

Agreeing with fhrjr2 again, without any research of my own, that the 'anchor set' idea could likely be what it is. In other words, a tool meant to enable putting little rows of pins (or something) into a circuit board for further soldering/connecting/etc...??

Come to think of it, little tools similar to this are also made for inserting pins into various kinds of electrical connector plugs, as found inside (but not generally outside) of all sorts of things, including automotive wiring harnesses. Still just guessing here, though... ;-) :-)

I like the pin insertion tool. Seems very reasonable. Thanks guys.
