I am speaking about my MCM Czech glass collection, that I assembled last year within a few months, and my recent decision to clean these large heavy vases, giving them back their highly lustrous and optical punch they had when new.
This pair of amethyst vases was made by Frantisek Vizner, for Rosice. A highly skilled Czech glass craftsman, who experimented and had a unique vision in a wide range of styles during many decades. He is a favorite of the UK Mark Hill, publisher, collector and authority on this subject, and Jindrich Parish, a notable Czech collector who is very active and generous with his own knowledge and time.
The phenomenon I mention is one that happens to me regularly, as I switch my focus back and forth between various time periods, cultures, and collectible items.
Vizner never designed a bad piece of glass and these are an exemplar of his designs.
Some of my absolute best pressed glass.
I haven't washed my glass this year Lisa, bad hey. I know when I do just how much better it looks and at the same time we appreciate again each piece.
Maybe you are my exemplar?

Eileem I do have some alexandrite glass vases by Klinger, also handled lately and impressed all over again with the so subtle changes in color, it's magical. Then I have some smoky yellow to green glass, again an effect that metamorphoses based on the light background.
Karen, that will be the day I would be your examplar, you have been an inspiration for many years with your own glass, going your own way, and keeping the faith as they say. Appreciate the sentiment.
I assume you have a dishwasher. Hate to have to wash those by hand. LOL
BB2, they are so heavy about 3 pounds each that you only do a few by hand at a time. Always good to hear from you. Glad you are ok. :-)
Love your vases. Beautiful.
Personally I would rather wash my treasure by hand, that way I feel the piece, each line and curve and admire the artist for the craftmenship, its luster returns as if it was new. Lori
