Jenni, What Is Intresting With Him Singing That Song Is That He Was Actually Born Just Up The Road From Me In Sylacauga, Alabama.
George Lindsey Who Played Goober Alongside Nabors In The Andy Griffith Show Is A Alabama Native As Well.
Thomas.
They were great guys Thomas, so cool that both were Alabama natives & Mr Nabors from so close by - loved them on Andy Griffith show :)
Andy Griffith was my distant cousin. His mother was a Nunn as was my great something grandmother. He came from the same area of North Carolina where my family once lived....
You right, Eileen, he could sang! I was stunned the first time I heard him. I think it was on the Gomer Pyle USMC show.
Kwqd, Yes..Mt.Airy, N.C. And Nearby There Really Is A Mt. Pilot..I know the area.
Thomas.
Mt. Airy is in the northeast corner of Surry county and the Nunns lived in Surry until Stokes County was created from it in 1789. Both counties border Patrick County, Virginia. The Nunns appear in records in all three counties. Not sure when the Griffiths showed up.
Mt Pilot is a bit southeast of Mt Airy in Surry County very close to the Stokes county line.
