"GESTURES" #58/100 BY SIOUX ARTIST ALOYSIUS (AL) MANYBEARS

    Visible artwork is about 11 1/2" wide, and 9 1/2" tall. With the frame it's about 21 3/16" wide, & 17 1/4" tall.

It shows a what appears to be a Calvary scout communicating with a Sioux Scout?

    From his 2005 obituary:
    "Pa-noh-komÚ (Al)
He was born and raised on Siksika Nation where he received his education and discovered his natural artistic ability at a very young age and later became recognized as a renowned artist. He gained international recognition with some of his selected original artwork chosen during the Calgary 1988 Winter Olympics. Pa-noh-komÚ (Al) persevered despite many challenges he faced throughout his life while maintaining his dedication and devotion to his family. He continued to support his family through his gifted talent and traveled to many art shows and exhibits across North America. His unique artistic style captures the Siksika heritage to share and to promote future Siksika generations. Pa-noh-komÚ (Al) will be forever appreciated for his generosity, kindness, wisdom, patience, courage, and most of all his love from all those he touched. He was a strong believer in the Siksika traditional way of life as his legacy will continue on through his children and grandchildren."

Nice. I like it. Maybe a screen print... A run of 100 signed pieces doesn't make a modern print rare. A run of single digits or maybe up to 20 prints might qualify as rare, but rare is not directly proportional to value. I have found quite a few artist hand signed limited run (single digit runs) prints in thrift shops. It is likely that many more unsigned (by hand) copies of your print were run since it is also signed in the print. Artists often do hand signed runs to try to sell them for a bit more. It is a nice connection to the artist to have one signed like this.

From what I understand he didn't sign very many pieces. And you don't see many of his pieces for sale. The seller told me that his niece tried to buy this piece back a few years ago. And he is passed away now.

My nanny was an Indian and I can read what the Indian is saying. "This is our land, -and we're going to build a casino right here !" Nice print. You can send it to me for appraisal.

Consolidate the trench art in one package and save postage. What would do without me ?!

Haha! I don't wanna give away the post..but the lot belonged to someone famous and I have the provenance to prove it, including a signed letter from 1918. So..yes..WWI..drooling yet?
