Most of you know the story behind the Christmas collection of D & E. Only four brooches made and for only one season. Very rare! To find a piece is very hard, but diligence paid off. This time of year is when to look! I found a jewelry lot with a D & E wreath a couple days ago , so now I have two of their beautiful wreathes in my collection!
I nearly flipped when I came across this piece, in a jewelry lot. Never have I seen the wreath with a yellow flame! And there are other differences too! While the “original” brooch is set in gold and open backed, the yellow flame brooch is set in silver and close-backed! Also the red “berries” are multi pronged, and the halo has much larger rs around the “candle”. I had come across a long lost treasure! Sadly, the dangles to the bow were broken off, so I didn’t purchase it! The seller was kind enough to allow me to show his pictures. I doubt we will ever se this “style” again...ever!

Nice documentation, Eileen. It is the sign of a dedicated collector to do documentation like this to inform other collectors. I appreciate your efforts even though I am not a serious jewelry collector, myself.

The one with a yellow flame looks to be quite special and I love that one stone making such a difference with looks and importance. The colour of greens is another great find as it seems to come to life moreso ! Superb !~

Eileen, You are so expert on D&E. Love reading your posts and learning something new. Wonderful rarity for your super collection. Too bad the yellow flame brooch was broken, but now you've seen it once, you may see it again sometime! I hope one finds its way to you.

Sincere thanks to all that loved my D & E ( rare) Christmas Wreath and apologies for the last responce, but we are all busy this time of year, yes?

      Bill ( OleCody)
      Kevin ( kwqd)
      Mary ( valentino97)
      Patricia ( Watchsearcher)
      Scott (jscott0363)
      Pascalle ( kyratango)
      Thomas ( Brunswick)

Bill, thanks for stopping by the Vintage Jewelry corner. The brooch that was broken was beyond repair or I would of snapped it up in a second! I have seen many photos, mine and others, on other sites. I go to look for something, and there’s a photo of my jewelry, huh?
Guess it bothers me too, then again maybe someone is learning something from them, so I let it be.

Kevin, thank you. This is a learning site, and I do my best to share whatever small amount of knowledge I have with others.

Phil, these pieces are so hard to come by, and to see one with variances, well I about flipped!
So sad it was broken :(

Yes Mary, I have been wearing my Christmas brooches! This month is the only time of year they come out of the armoire. I actually had someone come up to me and ask where I purchased my “Bells”. When I told her the brooch was over 50 years old, she was stunned!
So nice to get compliments on our vintage, yes?

Elisabeth, thank you! This is the time of year to find vintage Christmas! Of course, they are always on eBay, but new listings come on everyday. Take a peak, I bet you will find one to your liking! :)

      Thank you MrsT!
Always with a sweet compliment! And yes, it will take some getting over the broken “ treasure”.

Scott, thanks! I could hardly believe my luck to find yet another D & E Christmas brooch. Like I have said, ( over & over) very hard to find! I wore both the other day! Ha! Why not?

Maureen, you are so kind. It moves me when a jewelry expert such as yourself puts me in their class. And I know you are sincere, that makes all the difference. One here calls me a “self-appointed” & “self-proclaimed” expert, just out of hate\jealousy. And it’s so childish, and has no room here on this site. I have never claimed to be either, just trying to help when I can.
Thank you so much, dear “friend in jewels”!
And yes! Here’s hoping it comes my “way “again! :)

Thank you Clockerman, such a kind comment! D & E only made 4 of these brooches, for one season only, ( I am repeating myself, but there could be some out there that do not know this) so to find another wreath really surprised me! It’s like finding a four leaf clover, rarely do we, but when we do...OBoy!!
