Here are a compatibly colored pair of parrots, a 6"H ceramic pitcher by Fitz and Floyd of Dallas TX (1960 -) from their Caribbean Parrot line of 1987, beside my favorite gift from my husband's business trip to Sao Paulo Brazil, Louro Jose the talking 11"H parrot, who was a popular sidekick puppet to talk show host Ana Maria Braga from Brazil's Rede Globo TV show Mais Voce ("More You") which began in the late 1990s. Louro is made from a rubberlike vinyl not unlike a dog's squeeze toy, and pressing a chip in his tongue allows him to say one of eight lively Brazilian Portuguese phrases
These are so fun! And summery- I definitely get the tropical vibe from these and imagine pouring some fruity drinks out of them into cheery little glasses while sitting by the beach (It warms me up on a really wet cold wintry day!) Its also really funny how the parrots can look like a mixture of fruit and an actual parrot!

Louro Jose looks so much fun! He looks like he's clever, a bit jaded, and very opinionated. I love the style and colouring of him and his FF mate fits well.

racer4four is right about Louro Jose's "personality". And the bad news is that his puppeteer died last month :(
mcheconi thank you for letting me know the devastating news of the death of Tom Veiga, Louro Jose's puppeteer. I knew that Ana Maria has been battling cancer but this news about poor Tom is terrible, so young at 47 to have a stroke. I no longer have the Globo TV channel and miss it so much, I watched Mais Voce for about 10 yrs and both Louro and Ana Maria were always enjoyable, I have taped many of the shows still unwatched, now I will look at them & fondly remember adorable Louro the "muito famoso papagaio en todo Brasil" as well as talented Mr Veiga :(

Thanks Lauren for your super comment and lifting me out of the winter doldrums, yes these tropical birds are great reminders of warm summer days & pleasant fruity drinks! After a big snowstorm here I certainly appreciate that imagery, would that I could be back in Barbados in the Caribbean right now, or visiting Brazil (where Louro Jose hails from) where it is currently summer. The big parrot is colored like citrus fruit, and the little pitcher seems to have orange slices for eyes lol
Scott thank you for your wonderful compliment & I too am a huge fan of Fitz & Floyd ceramics, it's nice that they make a bunch of different items from each design - this Caribbean Parrot series had adorable salt & peppers plus other things, so colorful & amusing

The small pitcher has such bright cheery colors and I love its fishtail, such a creative design from F&F
Karen parrots always make me smile, and it's easy with these two who appear to be smiling themselves! The TV puppet Louro Jose had all the qualities you mentioned, he could be raucous & argumentative, but also very sweet and compassionate - for example, when kids would pet him his eyes would blink with grateful affection, or when an actress would stroke him he would fall over as if swooning! It was a delightful foil to his human friend host Ana Maria Braga, who treated him like he was her little boy, & his animator Tom Veiga crouched below the counter Louro stood on, creating his parrot-like voice and movements. As mentioned to you earlier, I did not know of his passing and am still quite shocked, as I don't think anyone else can replace him to operate darling Louro, since Ana Maria has been ill & off the show for awhile. I see that you are from Sao Paulo, I wanted you to know that when my husband visited there several years ago to train microscope technicians, he was treated wonderfully and has great affection for his time in Brazil and your country's hospitality toward him. I had been trying for years to obtain the Louro Jose boneca online with no success, I could not get them to ship the toy internationally, so I asked could he go to some SP toy stores to look for it. He had no success, so he asked the microscope office secretary if she could look around, she found the Louro boneca at a store several miles away & had them deliver it by bike messenger to my husband, he was so touched & I was absolutely thrilled! Hoping one day that I too can visit your beautiful country, there are so many gorgeous sights to see but my first stop would be a cable car ride to the mountain of the Cristo Redentor church, that statue is so very awesome :)

My parrot pair thank you Roy for the super kind love, hope you enjoyed reading about my talking Brazilian parrot Louro Jose, he was the best gift my hubby ever gave me, seriously! I loved that TV show, the animator made you believe the parrot was alive, & I learned alot about the Portuguese language watching that show, used to read from a dictionary when it was on :)
Newfld, thank you for your kind words about Brazil and Sao Paulo. I am happy you and your husband have a nice impression about my Country. Sorry for the bad news, I didn't realize you liked the show so much. Louro Jose is no more, they will not let another pupeteer operate it.
mcheconi I am so glad they will not be replacing Tom Veiga as Louro Jose, he was one of a kind & irreplaceable. I will be watching online to see if they will be having the Carnaval samba desfiles in early February, I love to see the creativity of the floats every year and hope we will see something happy this winter!
