MY DAUGHTER FOUND THESE OLD CYLINDER RECORDS BY HER APARTMENT DUMPSTER AND FIGURED SHE WOULD BRING THEM TO ME ! THEY ARE PRETTY NEAT SOME ARE IN ROUGH CONDITION BUT FOR THEIR AGE THIS IS TO BE EXPECTED. 1800 / 1929 COLUMBIA, , INDESTRUCTIBLE AND EDISON MADE THESE RECORDS . OH YES AND THE OAK BOX IS PRETTY NICE TOO!

Cool find! Looks like you actually have the records, but strangely not a single lid. I have a few of these empty tubes. I gave several away for xmas in the last few years.

Wow, I need a dumpster like that one.

Thanks to you both! I have 27 of them and there are 4 of which are flat tops and the rest are beveled top. I only have 1 Colombia which is supposed to be one of the earliest manufacturer and 2 indestructible , the majority being Edison. Besides about 5 having a few chips around the rim of the inside ceramic the others are in good shape considering how fragile and sensitive to temperature they are. Many of them were cracked these are what remains! Now what to do with them?

What a find! Do you have the appropriate machines to play them? If the Columbia cylinder matches the box, it's a 2 minute wax, and can't be played on a 4 minute machine. Indestructible made 2 and 4 minute cylinders. The 4 minute ones will have 4M stamped along with the title.

I'm going to have to take up dumpster diving. But I live in the Islands, so maybe not!

I wish I had the correct machine to play them ! I have several 2 minute cylinders the majority are 4. I would love to hear what they sound like! Happy Holidays to All!????????????

There are many collectors who post on YouTube. If you're curious, you can search the song title and you might get lucky and hear the record you have. Merry Christmas.
