Question for anyone in the know of Civil War bullets. This for sure is a Civil War bullet. But I’m wondering if looking at the tip of the bullet mostly, that if it could’ve hit someone. I see faint reddish brown discoloration towards the tip looking closely at the artifact. Possibly blood splotches? I’ve read that fabric imprints are a sign that a bullet may very well have caused a casualty. Are those parallel lines on the tip of the bullet some kind of fibrous fabric? If not, what could the parallel lines be? If that is a fabric imprint, could it have been a Confederate or Union casualty from looking at the pattern? Missing white oxidation in the imprint area screams fake.
flashlarue thanks for your time, and I’m trying to understand what’s fake about the bullet? The bullet has a COA from a group called ‘Southern Star Displays.’
The bullet should be uniformly oxidized white all over the outside unless part has been cleaned or modified removing the white oxidation in only that area.
flashlarue again, thank you for your time. I see what you’re saying. Wondering even with the Certificate of Authenticity (it has a lifetime warranty), could it still be fake? Or do you think other circumstances could’ve happened to the bullet that might be more likely? Again, thanks for your time!!
The bullet looks authentic.
I don't buy the story nor do I see "splotches of blood". Don't know how blood would remain on a bullet.
As far as the letter of authenticity-- depends on WHAT it was represented to be?
I am not a fan of Battlefield bullets. Never understood a $1 minie ball selling for $50 because someone said it was from Gettysburg or the rodent chewed bullet identified as an "amputation" or "pain" bullet.
I remember stories of the dealer tipping over his "bullet bucket" outside the Gettysburg show and then selling the bullets as "Gettysburg drops"!

Scott, I apologize if my response was in any way belated. Thank you ETERNALLY for your time! I was working 12;45 AM-9:15 PM and was unable to get to my phone. And I see what you’re saying and I understand that we’ll most likely not know for sure what happened with the shot, but it’s all guess work without any definite answers.
