    Wood Carved Knight Figure

    Approximately 11" x 5"

I bought this piece last year(2 days ago)..lol. I have been watching it for awhile. The seller had an aggressive price. I added it to the lot of art I was buying for my price.

It's carved from a lager piece of wood. The image is a little confusing...it appears there's a pair of dice(5's?)..and on the right side, maybe a snake and clubs...4 leaf clover? Not sure. What do you see?

It was a little forward heavy, as the base is shaped. There are 2 pencil sized holes underneath, possibly had a base? I added a single adjustment screw to enable the piece to sit level..kinda floats there now.

I treated it with some beeswax. It was very dry when I got it. You can see a few areas of loss.

The seller suggested he bought it in Portland, Oregon at the estate sale of Raymond Hudson? More research is needed. He claimed there was original art and a collection from other artists at the sale.

It makes me think of the Melting Watch Salvador Dali painting.....like the knight’s face is melting.

Great find! Reminds me of the Black Forest carvings from Germany.

Thanks for the loves and the comments. I love finding pieces like this. Even if the artist was able to make more than 1, it could never be the same. So far, no luck on artist's info..
