Masterpiece Fertilizers was founded in 1915. The president was Geo. W. Furh. thus his name on the sign. The only information I found on the company was from The American Fertilizer Handbook 1924 on Google books, that and another mention from a 1925 publication. Both are must reads. Their plant was in Irwindale which would be a good place for a fertilizer plant. It is on the outskirts of the Los Angeles area. Currently there is the Miller Beer plant and Irwindale Speedway which is known for its dragstrip. Next door is Azusa which was probably where the main office was. You don't want to be smelling the product all day. Route 66 runs through both about 10 miles east of Pasadena.
The sign is 20" x 13". It isn't showing up very well in the photos so I am thinking no more orange signs. But this may actually be an antique sign as it is close to 100. Or perhaps it will be soon.

...mebbe we all need to work on finding you a more funnerer porch light fixture, but that can wait a moment...the glass globe on that one could otherwise become a likewise really nifty pencil holder...(yes, I have a couple of those too...) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Is that a metal wreath in picture 4? If you can pull yourself away from The American Fertilizer Handbook long enough, I’d love to see a better picture of it. :-)

Thank you very much AO. I will keep an eye out for a more funner porch light.

Thank you very much Newfld. It does fit in.

      Thank you very much Scott.

Thank you very much Watchsearcher. It is a metal wreath with a log cabin in the center.

Masterpiece is an odd name for fertilizers but the sign is great. Nice find!

Thank you very much mcheconi. I am sure their neighbors would agree.
