Hi, I would like any info, especially age, on this double vase or inkwell. I think it is carved soapstone? Asian? Antique? Best way to clean?
I think the last posting I saw on a similar item here was 5 yrs ago. I know this site has great expertise! Thanks!

Check eBay for many of these or similar carvings.

Soapstone carvings like this are very hard to age which is not a major factor in their value. They are generic and are being carved as we speak. Valuable stone carving in China is done with Jades and other precious/semiprecious stone. Modern versions are carved following the traditions of countless centuries. There are moderns approaches being taken, but they are still relatively expensive, usually in the $1,000's.
