This Vizner piece I have had for about 20 years now....Any information on this is appreciated. It does have tiny scratches on the top......Are there any ways of removing scratches from glass? I am wondering why this piece hadn't been numbered? Thank you for your comments............John

František Vízner trained at the Specialized School of Glassmaking in Železný Brod (1953 – 1956), and then he studied at the renowned Academy of Applied Arts in Prague (1956 – 1962). From 1962 to 1967, he worked at the Teplice glassworks, designing pressed glassware. From 1967 to 1975, he worked in the design studio at Škrdlovice, a glassworks specializing in innovative hot-sculpting and blowing processes. Vízner left the Czechoslovak glass industry in 1975 to pursue a successful career as an independent artist.

You can read about Alchymia Praha at this site:
      http://www.iwu.edu/iwunews/magazine/pastissues/Winter_2003/glass.shtml

"It was a business venture set up in the US by Raymond Berger — together with partner Alex Shapiro that went from 2000-2004. Alchymia Prahawas a company created to market handmade contemporary glassware designed by leading Czech artists. Alchymie Praha (Czech for “Prague Academy”) cemented its arrival as a player in the world of retail glassware by signing a two-year, 10-market exclusivity pact with Neiman Marcus to carry the entire line. The affordably priced, signed-and-numbered collections are not only finding favor among consumers, but they have also energized the Czech Republic’s decorative glass industry and provided a new audience for talented artists whose work was previously unknown in America."

I'm not sure why it is not numbered. František Vízner is till working and his work is collected all around the world.

      Lucky you!
      I'd leave scratches alone. Vi
