Just wanted to show this old bracelet that I purchased at a second hand store, thought collectors might appreciate it.

Is the lock a functioning clasp or an ornament?
      It’s beautiful!

      Deprise, Beautiful. :-)

      Here's a sibling:

      Vintage from the 1910s

Materials: gold fill, repousse design, heart shaped padlock, embossed links, repousse links

This is a gorgeous gold filled 'night and day' bracelet complete with a repousse heart shaped padlock made by the Wightman & Hough Company. Both pieces are marked 'W&H Co' and '1/10' indicating that they are gold filled. Sadly, the key is missing and the lock does not open, but the bracelet has a spring ring clasp attached to close it.

The lock does open but I have no key to lock it.

Deprise, Too bad, but keys are easily lost. :-(

Yours is in better shape than the one I linked at Etsy, but that one seems to have something yours lacks: a spring ring clasp.

Either yours had one originally, but it was removed, because it ceased to function properly, or somebody added a spring ring clasp to the one at Etsy, because the key was lost.

Here's another one in better shape, but it also lacks the spring ring clasp:

      *snip*

Kept in stunning condition, with each link chased in a scroll design and a double sided repousse heart padlock clasp. Padlock is marked 1/10 W & H Co, along with the final link of the bracelet. Total length is 7.25 - 7.5" if padlock is included in length. Padlock is 7/8" tall and total weight is over 23 grams. There is no key, but can be sprung from button. Please see pictures for cosmetic condition. PICTURES ARE PART OF OVERALL DESCRIPTION.

I'm not sure what they mean by "button." Perhaps that small circular thing seen in the middle of the keyhole on yours?

      Some background about the company:

      *snip*

Wightman & Hough Company made sweetheart necklaces from 1856 until 1922. They were primarily renowned for their lockets. Their slogan, which I find to be quite amusing & sweet, was “There’s a heart in every locket!” How true!
