I know there's quite a few folks out there who appreciate Welz lidded trinket bowls, so I hope this one brings you as much visual pleasure as it does to me!
A very reasonably - priced find on eBay AU, it is made from three layers of cased glass - clear over a multi - coloured spatter that is dominated by a deep red, with a white interior.
The bowl measures around 10 cm tall to the top of the clear applied finial, 14 cm wide across (inclusive of the rigaree), 10.5 cm wide across the inner diameter, & 8 cm across the base, which has a rough, snapped off pontil mark.
The clear applied rigaree has an embossed daisy pattern. One minor area of damage to the rigaree, with a loss to one of the "daisies" but otherwise, in excellent condition for its age.
Very pretty.
