My friend found this old pipe in his attic when renovating. House was built in the 40s. Says kool smoke pat pending on the back. Anyone know how old it is?

Kool smoke Type 2 pipe. Stem is missing on this one. Very late 1940's or most likely early 50's. Plenty of them on the Internet, not unusual or rare.
