    Does anybody have any information on this trunk? It was my great great grandmothers. Also trying to find the maker. The wheels have Nicholson pat June 78 then below that July 21 85. The latch has a star on it.

      Wonderful trunk and I absolutely love that beautiful interior! I restored one very similar to this one about 6 or 7 years ago. I've included the link to that one below.

      You have a barrel top trunk from around mid to late 1880's possibly early 1890's the stamped tin hardware was patented in 1880 by Charles Taylor, the front latches patented 1882 also Taylor, the lock is by the star lock co. missing the lock originally attached by a link, I believe the wheels are a Michelson Patent 85 so it cant be any older than the last patent, very cool alligator print on interior, 1st time I've seen it, without a makers label hard to say who the maker was, over all very nice.

      I agree with Greendog. A first time seeing the alligator print paper on the interior
      as well as the print pattern on the exterior metal.Thanks for the post.
