Another recent Juliana set found at the antiques mall. I love the over-flowing abundance of the ab stones and the little filigree leaves. I'm calling this a Baroque style for Juliana although I don't have the reference book, so not sure its correct name. I was surprised that the back of one earring seems to be marked 1.98. Original price? The set is in excellent condition, except the back of the bracelet does show a bit of wear. However, the price was ridiculously inexpensive so I took it.
Looking up the designs on isitjulianajewelry.com I see the bracelet is listed as design 6002, while the brooch in a slightly different color or maybe just different lighting is design reference 281.

    Happy Valentines Day CW!

Maureen, I sure hope you have a guest room because I am taking the next flight out! Ha!
What an incredible fine!! I do not what to know what you paid for this magnificent D & E set, as a set like this goes for 3 bills...easily!
Some call the pink focal stone “Matrix”, though I haven’t a clue why. In Musetti’s book, it is described as faux Italian Marble Art Glass. This isn’t a Juliana piece, according to Mr. Delizza’s records, this was designed in 1964! ( the year of the Beatles, Ha!)
Anyway, congratulations on finding such a beautiful set! And...I have a feeling you know much more about this jewelry line than you let on....( wink)
Once again...a spectacular find my dear!

Eileen, I do have a guest room and it is waiting for you! I paid a pittance for this set, about 12% of what you suggested it might be worth, which is why I bought it. It was filthy when found, but did clean up nicely. I
Now that you mention it I have heard the term Matrix but I don't have the Musetti book, so was unable to do any research. I found it on the isitjulianajewelry website, which I thought was reliable. If it isn't Juliana, what is it? D&E ceased operations in 1971, from what I can tell. Your knowledge would be appreciated, as I am not that knowledgeable about Juliana.
Thanks for the Love and Kudos, Eileen!

Also Thanks to Jenni and Manikin for the Love and appreciation.

      Maureen,
The term “Juliana” has become the generic name for all of D & E’s jewelry it seems.
D & E made jewelry for 100’s ( yes 100’s) of companies. Some include big names like Hobe, Alice Caviness, Eisenberg Ice, Weiss, KJL, Celebrity, Ciro, etc. There are other “lady name” Companies such as “Tara” & “Gloria” which D & E designed for.
In the years 1967-1968, DeLizza & Elster designed pieces and named them after Mr. Delizza’s Mother. There is said to be around 2000 pieces. D & E started in 1947 and continued into the 1990’s, but in those two years, that is when “Juliana” pieces were designed. Since your set was made 3 years earlier, it would be considered a “D & E” set.
      Just remember..ALL JULIANA IS D & E, BUT NOT ALL D & E IS JULIANA.
Makes your head swim, huh? Hope I helped a little.

Eileen, Good to know. I knew D&E manufactured for many companies. I didn't know Juliana was such a short lived line. So the Juliana jewelry on the isitjulianajewelry is not all Juliana. Interesting. Because these designs are there but not Juliana? I love the color, the joie de vivre, and opulence of their designs.

Love learning about the company from you and the other collectors here. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Maureen, Karla Wacker , co-author of “Juliana Jewelry.. the next Generation”, most likely uses the title “is it Juliana Jewelry” because for one thing, it flows nicely” and also because D & E jewelry is always referred to as Juliana now a days. The name has stuck. Even Ann Pitman’s book is titled “Juliana Jewelry Reference” Delizza & Elster identification & value Guide”! Thiugh inside there are pieces going all the way back to the beginning! If you mention D & E Jewelry to someone, they haven’t a clue what you’re talking about, but mention “JULIANA “, and right away they know of what you speak of.
      Once again...All Juliana Jewelry is D & E
But not all D & E is Juliana....
