This was my grandmothers doll when she was a baby. Circa 1906. Any way to identify? It’s in a shadow box that’s very old as well.

I would say it is a high brow China doll from what I can make out which dates earlier than 1903 . I also would believe that the dress may have been your Grandmothers original Christening gown. Could you get a better angle of top of hair by her forehead ? China dolls are named and dated by their hairdo's. What a fantastic heirloom !

I haven’t opened the shadow box yet but will do so one day this week. And yes it may have been her christening gown. Thank you.

I would leave it closed . I m 99% sure it is a high brow China doll and would not disturb her . The oil on our hands can harm old fabric so best keep as she is and just love her . Some of the German China dolls like were made into 1930s but yours is much earlier and it appears rather small so detailing isn't always as refined in sculpting hairdo . These are sometimes referred to as flat top china dolls also . Priceless !!

Well......I just saw this. After I opened it and changed the fabric it was mounted on. Go figure. Anyhow I have better photos that I’m adding.

Yes she is a high brow /flat top china . They date 1860s -1880s. Wonderful shadowbox of memories. The doll may have been handed down to her since I would guess you mean she was born in 1903 ?

I believe it may have been her Mothers doll first perhaps . I know whoever had her loved her and gave her lots of baths and kisses to wear off her paint :-)
