I love it that the manufacturer designed it so there will never be any doubt about what it is.....now if they had only included the date!

      Hi, charmsomeone.

      Here is one dated '1879':

      *snip*

1879 Cast Iron Stove Pipe Shelf - Half Round Lettered Handy Stove Shelf - Pat 1879 ( above the letter N) Measures 19 3/4" wide x 10" deep Half round area to go around a stove pipe, is 6 7/8" wide x 4" deep 8 loops at front edge to hang utensils Warming shelf - 2 screw holes at the back

      *snip*

      https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/1879-cast-iron-stove-pipe-shelf-1783806904

FYI, I suspect that there's something not quite right about that 1879 information. The picture isn't high enough resolution for me to read what's embossed over the letter "N."

The owner of the Worthpoint shelves seems like they might be conflating the patent number with the year of patenting or manufacture.

When I tried to look up patent 1879 in the USPTO, both as an ordinary patent, and as a design, I got two completely different patents, neither of which had anything to do with cast iron stove shelves (besides, a four digit patent number is too low for a late 19th century patent).

Here's a pair that's described as being of 1875 vintage (again, the images aren't quite high enough in resolution for me to make out the information embossed above the letter "N"):

Here's are a couple of patents for stove pipe shelves:
