silver (tone?) crucifixes

Or should that be 'crucifii', or what's the plural of crucifix anyway?

These two are nearly identical except for their size. They are both made of a silver colored metal (silver? pewter? something else?) framing dark colored inset wood. The larger one is 6-1/2" long, the smaller 3-3/4". The larger one is stamped "GERMANY" on its backside at the bottom, the smaller one is totally unmarked. I have not attempted to clean or polish them in any way for fear of making a mess...

Clues welcomed if anybody has one or two to offer -- I'm nobody's expert on religious items like these?!!
