Sometimes a piece comes your way that truly astounds us! This exquisite 1960’s fantasy piece by Kenneth Jay Lane of a rearing Pegasus is a rare masterpiece indeed! I have seen only two others over the years, both enameled. One in turquoise, (in someone’s collection, not for sale) and another in black that sold for a staggering $950 (before taxes & shipping). It was missing rs and there were many replacement rs too. Someone really wanted him, as did I, but I wasn’t willing to spend 1K on a piece missing original rs, not for that price! Then this beauty came my way! I am not going to tell you what I paid for him, but I will say calling it a bargain is an understatement. The phrase, “ it was a steal” comes to mind. Ha! ( it was meant to be!)
He is 2.5 inches tall, and all rhinestones are there and original. I love his green eye, and rs going down his nose, and curling mane and tail! This Stallion is close to 60 years old, and is in mint condition! His golden frame is very heavy, so he will go on my winter coat! I have had him for a while, but figured it was about time to share him with all of you :) The oldest hallmark of K.J.L. in a cartouche is on the back.
Isn’t he beautiful!?
