Can anyone give me insight as to the origin, age etc of this piece of furniture?
I really don’t have a clue.
Horsehair stuffed, tufted, beautiful wood and back wood pieces fold out and sofa back lays down.

wow! that's quite the sofa!! Pretty solid Empire or Regency styled, but the age depends alot on where it was made. Those styles were popular in the first half of the 19th c - earlier in France and later in the Americas.
I seen a Fainting couch or daybed with leather identical to your tufted piece and heavily stuffed. It was from the very early 20th century, first decade. Gorgeous sofa !~
