Estate sale find. What is the purpose of the opening in the back, and the tiny hole in the beak? I thought it might be a planter but the opening seems too small... And the beak is definitely too small to pour anything through. Incense holder? Any other ideas?

Thoughts on what kind of bird it might be are welcome too :)
