These were my Mother's dolls with the clothes she sewed for them sometime around 1943. The brunette lady in blue is a Simplicity "Fashiondol". If you look closely at the green pamphlet you will see a picture of her and the blue wood dressform. She's made from latexture, and has some damage to her arms over the years. Our friend Manikin sent me a set of arms and dress pattern for another blonde Simplicity doll who isn't in this post because she doesn't have any clothes to wear yet - my fault for taking so long.

I am not sure who made the blonde doll. Her body is a chalkier, matte composition. She's also 12-1/2". AND, both my ladies need a little makeup on their nose. LOL, don't we all? I've seen and wanted these dolls all my life.

These are wonderful treasures from your dear Mother. Again, I'm so sorry for the loss of your Mom. That was extremely kind of Mani to send you arms for the doll.

Your first manikin is made my Latexture Prods. NYC for Simplicity patterns . The 2nd manikin is Singer manikin and she came with Butterick patterns and often sold with child singer sewing machine and also without sewing machine . The box she came in has wonderful graphics on it . Singer did 2 variations of their manikins yours and one that was rubber that has same look as yours but her body seems to me to be out of proportion. I like your version better . Thanks for sharing your Moms girls and glad that the arms worked for you :-)

Scott - yes, they are treasures! My Mom had a display case made for them, but it was too wide to put in the huge suitcase I brought, dang it! So nice of Mani to provide new arms for my blonde doll.

Mani - thank you again for your expertise and sending me replacement arms for my blonde doll (who must be clothed before I can share LOL). My Mom ordered more arms because there is an extra, but it is really damaged. The arms on these 2 are damaged too. Probably because this type of plastic needs to have a stable temperature? Thank you for helping me with ID and research, and the arms :-)

Phil - Yes, she is the expert! Thank you for your comment :-)

I feel so bad not commenting sooner! My Mother also made all my dolls clothes, even my Barbie. I remember one outfit in particular, it was a skating outfit with teeny tiny shorts under the skirt, it was blue. My Mother could sew like no other…
These dolls are an heirloom to treasure Mary! I know you have a huge family so I am happy your siblings passed them to you!

Thank you Eileen! Aren't these neat? I am so happy to have them. My Mom used to make a lot of doll clothes too. I had Barbie, Midge and Skipper and blonde Ken - then my little sisters inherited them. Don't think the dolls are still around though.

Thank you friends for all your loves :-)
