The red has me a bit confused. I know that there's a Waugaman St. in Pennsylvania, but they have green street signs there too. I like weird signs.

We had signs like this at a boys summer camp up in New England. Each area and hut had a different name that indicated the team you were on. I was director of maintenance there for a number of years and the signs kept coming up missing. The red paint made the signs more visible through the trees.

There *are* such things as red colored street name signs scattered out around the USA, but they aren't common by any means. (or in other words it isn't against regulations, just not the 'conventional' color scheme) Street sign colors tend to be the jurisdiction of local municipalities for the most part, so can vary a great deal. If your sign is otherwise the appropriate size/material, it could very likely be from a "WAUGAMAN" street, someplace...?? :-) :-) :-)
thank you Obscure! i think it was a legitimate street sign somewhere by the looks/feel of it. i sure wish more of them were red, then i'd be able to SEE the darn things!
