This 1 1-2" owl design brooch has a pair of orange eyes & black nose, with a large faceted amber glass teardrop belly and mini golden rhinestone accents, on goldtone. Signed Alice Caviness (1945-1977) ca 1960s

At first I thought I saw a D and E piece with this lovely owl brooch!! The topaz belly stone is so beautiful and also the orange eyes. Very nice piece!!!

Such amazing detail; the twisted branch, the black feet and big topaz body, the wing feathers and jewel feathers over those beautiful eyes.
I really haven't seen better.

Yay- more owls! He's a very autumnal owl , the deep amber and reds are a really lovely mixt of colours, but what got me wondering is the black stone- what is it? Is it a really dark garnet or ruby?! Whatever it is, it's a nice little centerpiece.
Gorgeous with the black also, a true jem with its claw mounted stones !~

Thank you FreshAir for your terrific observant comment, your eyes do not deceive you this owl was most probably designed by D & E for Caviness, they did many for her including my previously posted large elongated leaf brooch plus another owl with navettes in the design. I too love the color scheme here, and that large teardrop belly stone is so awesome
Aw Karen, thanks so much for your super compliments, it's so true that there is an abundance of detail here & one of my fave accents is that twisted branch it's very cool! The mini rhinestones framing the owl give it a friendly look, and leave it to you my friend to notice the cohesiveness here

Yep Lauren, another owl, seems the more I try to look for pretty birds, I seem to be drawn to owls lately! Aren't the autumn tones great here, very complementary, they remind me of the turning Fall leaves. Yes the nose is a jet black stone, just for a little accent. Wonderful praise, thank you as ever you're so great
Phil isn't it something the way even the tiny rhinestones have prongs, this piece must certainly have been time consuming to make! But how wonderful that some 60 yrs later, nary a stone is missing. Thank you for your lovely praise
