      Hi again,

Frenchies can be tough to nail down. The movements were manufactured in large numbers and sold to clock makers for casing. Please lot of business records were destroyed in the European wars. Many of the printed reference materials are in French.

I would call this case style a tall Doric Arch.
The Cup Bell is removable. If you can ease it off, please post a sharply focused, well light photo of the back of the movement. That *might* help us to identify and date the movement. From there we could make some assumptions about the date of the clock.

If you can get an accurate measurement of the size of the winding arbor we could give you the key size.

Another nice one. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the additional photo. That's helpful.

I think that tour clock is likely from the mid 1800's.

Here is a link that may allow you to get a circa date for your movement: http://theindex.nawcc.org/Articles/Dean-french.pdf. You can check some of the photos against details of your clock's movement.

AD Mougin was a well-known French clock maker
He worked in the mid 1800's in the French clock making region of Montbeliard (near the Swiss border)

He won two gold medals for his clocks: ‘Deux Medailles’ on his trademark which can be found stamped on the back movement plate of his clocks.

You may be able to find more information by doing an internet search on his name.

      Regards,

      Bruce
