This 2 1-4" crested bird on branch brooch has a white rhinestone head, with teal & blue shiny enamel on silvertone. Early Kirks Folly mark ca late '70s-early '80s
K.F. was a family jewelry business founded in NY in 1979

That's a great little brooch, everything about it is lovely, I especially adore the colour he's in, it reminds me of the same iridescence you see on hummingbird's? A shimmering mix of blue, navy and green? I'm sure there's other bird of paradise tropical types that it's more like but I don't know their names...I can just see him sitting on a branch in some really wet rainforest!

It does shimmer with that added sparkle, and wouldn't it be nice to see him on an early dewy rainforest morn glimmering on a branch, love that visual so much (when it was trendy years ago, I had all sorts of 'save the rainforest' collectibles)

Karen thank you for your awesome fun comment, this co. made such pretty colorful pieces often in fantasy colors, before they really went off into dangling stars and other additions that really lived up to their 'folly' name, which I guess just meant this was a crazy sideline idea they had. It actually became quite lucrative for their family, but I much prefer their non-dangle designs like my pot o'gold & pegasus horse
