I recently picked this up. Absolutely in love with it but don’t know anything about it. Trying to educate myself on furniture styles/eras and such. There is some veneer.

I'm wholeheartedly agreeing that it is a wonderful piece -- however, I'm wondering if it wasn't a "dresser" originally, but maybe some kind of commercial furniture instead. I'm nobody's expert on such things (I'm here to learn, too!!) but the way its base is crafted strikes me as something that was meant to be dropped in one place and left there indefinitely (like in a store, etc) instead of one's home, where furniture can tend to move occasionally and/or where people want to clean underneath it every once in awhile. This one looks more like something that would have been swept/mopped *around*, instead...?? (and such that little things like coins wouldn't be able to get lost under there?)
Looks like a dresser to me.
I'd call it Empire-- probably mid to late 19th century. A photo of the drawer joint may be helpful in dating.

I think early 20th century and to be empire would have to have had bun type feet or some other feet of that period. More like a classical renaissance style to it. Very nice piece.
The handcut dovetails are typical of the mid to late 19th century.
The columns on each side of the case are typical of the Empire period.
Lack of feet doesn't change what is on the piece. A photo of the bottom may reveal if this ever had feet.

Thank you so much for all the info! This is fantastic! Any chance you could recommend any sources I could get more information on period pieces and how to learn about all the eras furniture wise?
I don't see any columns that have anything to do with Empire. There are no references to this type of scroll as being empire or show a pic to illustrate your point !
The corbels on each side have nothing at all to do with empire. I have most all books on Empire and none show one pic of these corbels so I stick with classical rennaisance as a style !~
