I purchased tis belt buckle a ways back. Then did research to find the maker.
This is one of his hand made. Not a 1970's original or reremake.
I spoke with the guy who sells the new remakes and he validated the SB buckle. Not putting up for sale. Just curious if the there is any knowledge of his pieces.
I have been unable to find any sold items of his on eBay or etsy. Much more fun to post here and find out what you think !!

Sid Bell is not Navajo. He also only worked in Lost Wax process, and did not use stones. That is DEFINITELY a Native American piece. I don't think it is SB, either. Possibly a Snake & 8 or S8 or Soo (The o's verticle).

      And that is Morenci Turquoise.

"Morenci Turquoise is mined in southeastern Arizona, in Greenlee County. It is light blue to high blue in color. Morenci has an unusual matrix of irregular black pyrite, or fool's gold; when polished, the pyrite often looks like silver. It also is sometimes webbed in a darker shade of blue, called water webbed."

Well Celiene, so far I beg to differ. He worked with stone and specific turquoise. Especially later in collaboration with Tully.
He was not limited only to stones of Alaska. This stamp is typical of his hand made pieces on other sites, pre 1970's Tully.
Unless you feel this also is a fake?

      Hi Celiene,

After research, i agree. Not Sid Bell.
I like your ideas about maker. I havent been able to find the actual but very likely a Navajo, or wider, Native American piece of some practice.

Love the piece. Wish it were a arm bracelet not a belt buckle. Im not so in tuned to wear a fancy buckle.

      Thanks !

      Steve
