Possible Bitossi rimini blue sculpture vase. Bought at a Los Angeles vintage store in the early 2000s. Roughly 17” long x 16” high. It’s a cool piece. I’m curious, though; after looking through bitossi cats, oxen, and other animals online and finding none similar to this centaur woman, I’m questioning the authenticity. I can’t tell whether the Raymor sticker is original to the piece, but it was there when I bought it. Thank you for any insight you can provide...

It looks good to me but I certainly am no Bitossi expert. It looks great. On one of the FB groups (Bitossi and MCM Italian Ceramics) there are family members that can authenticate for you.

Looks like a legit tag to me. She's wonderful! I have no idea about the sculptor. But follow Vetraio's advice!

What does it say under the shelf-tack covering the front left foot?

Thank you so much for your responses everyone! This is a great resource- I appreciate all this information and will look into the Facebook group vetraio50 mentioned.
@ art.pottery, good question. Without removing the felt it’s unclear: the top line is a series of numbers ending with 4 B, bottom line ends with AL with the preceding letter possibly a K. I’ll see if I can get it cleaned off without removing the writing...
Thanks again to all of you for your help!

That mark below the digits and B will be ITALY.

I’ve just checked in the Albums of that group I mentioned above and there are two examples of the same figure. One is in white and the other Rimini blue like yours. It is in the Album of photos called Bitossi Human Figures.

From one of the photos there the numbers look like 5096B and Italy below. Mind you they are not really clear in the photo and yours may well be clearer.

      It’s big, too !!!

Quite a statement piece. Bitossi people would love this. Condition is good too.
