This horse was for the Marx Indians (the Marx term of the time) in the 1960s. This one has a date stamp (see fig. 4) of 1965 in Roman Numerals which is MCMLXV. Collecting Marx toys keeps you up on your Roman numerals. I believe the Pinto horse was actually released in 1967 or 1968 but it used the same mold as Thunderbolt. Just the paint is different. These were molded in brown (bay) with white over it and black mane and tail. This is a 12" figure the same size as GI Joe. There was also a Pinto horse with a black molded body that is rather rare. Only sold in a combo set over mail order. I really need to get one. Around 1972 the Pinto horse became Storm Cloud. Most other figures in the line had the date stamp changed around that time so I am thinking this is the earlier Pinto horse version.
Special thanks to Chief Cherokee who is riding the horse. He will get his own post soon.

You make me want to join the fun.
the horse reminds me of the Bonanza Pinto that Lil Joe rode - I had that horse, but I don't remember what he came with, I know it wasn't Lil Joe. Anyway, enjoy playing ....

Great sculptures of both figures! Very realistic. I haven't looked at toys lately, but my guess is they aren't as detailed ss this.

Thank you very much RichmondLori. This horse came with various Indian figures or just with the blanket and cinch rope.

I didn't have these ones but I do like all of the Marx west series. I spent countless hours playing with the ones I had. Still have part of what I had as a kid and regret not keeping up with ALL of them.

Thank you very much crewnail. Getting them all takes a while plus then getting all the variations and then duplicates so I can have an army.
