This antique Security Auto Theft Signal System has a brass lock and original red paint finish.. The Security Auto Theft Signal was placed on the right front wheel of the car so anyone attempting to drive off with the car or tamper with it would be recognized as a thief. Circa 1920

The thing that still amazes me about this is the way it is referred to only as a "signal" -- such that they assumed the car could still be "operated" as usual with this thing locked onto one of its wheels . . . ???
