WMF: Ikora "Dexel Egg" 1930.

The so-called "Dexel egg" is the only glass vessel from WMF glass production that can be assigned to a designer. The other Ikora glasses are mostly interpretations of designs by various artists for WMF's metal production, or in-house designs.
Walter Dexel was a German painter, commercial artist, designer, traffic planner and publicist. From 1930 he worked as a freelancer at WMF. There are no contemporary documents on this draft in the WMF archives. In his publication "Glass, Material and Form", Dexel points out the design, which secures it. The "Dexel Egg" was made in two sizes. Thick-walled, egg-shaped vessels with a drawn-in edge are the characteristic features of this design. Irregular patterns, unevenly sized air bubbles and lines are often enclosed in the wall. They are available in a wide variety of colors, often dark colored with metal oxides, or with a blown edge, a technique of glass blowing that was used to create gradual color transitions or edges (see second photo, 3rd vase from the left). Height 14 cm and 17.5 cm.
The floor can be ground flat or spherical.
