This pitcher vase by Williamsburg Glass Company is 11" tall and the base is 3" in diameter. It has a label that reads "Williamsburg Glass CO. Handblown Glass, Williamsburg VA". It is a bit wonky and has one of the worst pontils I have ever seen. It was snapped, leaving a rough, razor sharp remainder. The glass is a deep purplish blue which is washed out by the lighting I used.

I could find out very little about this company. Apparently, it was once also located in Lightfoot, VA. Much of what they made were reproductions of Colonial Virginia utilitarian glassware. This is the only piece made by this company that I have ever seen in the wild.

Beautiful blue glass pitcher vase, and so great to have the label

Could you sand the bottom to help get rid of that sharpness, or use a glass grinder?

Thanks for your comments, Jenni! I would have had no idea what it was without that label!

Thanks for your suggestions, PhilDMorris! I think it is better left alone since, along with the label, it is a good record of what a Williamsburg pontil looks like. Apologies to the future owners who cut themselves, though...

Thanks for loving my Williamsburg Glass Company pitcher vase Thomas, Jenni, BHIFOS, dav2no1, fortapache, AnythingObscure and Vynil33rpm!

Rough “bottom” or not, the color is so pretty.
Ha! You too, call it “in the wild”. Love the term, great minds think alike!

Thanks for your comments, Eileen. "In the wild", indeed! The color is better than my images show. The deeper blue parts have a purplish tint.

Thanks for loving my firs piece of Williamsburg glass Eileen, aura and Alfie21!
