Rather like a fruit salad colourful brooch that I have not seen before. It was being sold by someone I used to know well from the antique show circuit. The piece has gold/yellow stones on front and gold plated back, olive green, orange, burnt amber and gold stones. The central stone is gaurded by a barrage of hounds teeth prongs, showing its importance. A gorgeous pin at least 2 1/2 inches wide. I got this early May. I know I should be selling instead of buying but once a collector, always a collector.
It seems Sherman always had a surprise up his sleeve just when you think you have seen all his work, there is something to astonish. It would be nice to have a collection of burnt amber and olive green but I only have one other flower brooch that comes close. There is so much Sherman that collectors have in their collections and so much unseen by others it seems easy to have a prize collection in no time. These Sherman Jewels are something to collect that always has a surprise in store, and you never know its limits !~
