Here is an amber glass 5"H x 4 1-2"W x 14 1-2" circumference drum box with cat on lid sitting beside a drum mallet and pair of cymbals. Imprinted 'Portieux' inside drum base, design ca 1930s. PV was founded in Lorraine France in 1836, producing a variety of opaline and decorative glass

Very cool! Love the really neat look of this little drum shaped box(I don't think I've seen one before?!) It's really well sculpted too- rope designs are great. I think that kitty is guarding whatever might be held inside, he's certainly very attentive looking :)

Portieux Cat on Snare Drum Covered Dish / Powder Box in transparent amber glass. Inside base is embossed "Portieux". The piece was introduced early 1900s and continued until the 1930s.

Lauren I know, how about that rope design around the drum, it's really cool and to think this was designed @ 100 yrs ago and still relevant today. The cat is very erect and watchful, nobody will be stealing those drum accessories from it or they'll be scratched lol! Fabulous comment thank you so much

It's a really well-thought-out design adding the little cat to the top drum parts, so creative, and I do love the golden amber glass - it was also made in white & blue opaline glass but transparent is always my fave

Lol keramikos, thanks for your great cool comment and the link about Portieux and this item, it's got a great history. There are still a few of these in amber glass floating around online, in various price ranges - I found this on the popular "e" site for a very good price, and hope you get one too
Phil thank you for your fantastic praise as always, yes a truly rare design with alot of interesting features, I couldn't pass this one by - there was also a Portieux hunting dog topped dish I was considering but this kitty on the drum won out, it is a real eye catcher
